My boat sat unused for over 2 years while I was ill. I took it to Thurman because it would'nt start. They said they would need to drain the fuel system, check the fuel pump, bilge pump and wiring connections. They said it would be over 4 weeks before they could work on it. To my surprise, a week later they called and said it was ready. I towed it home, put it in the water and it runs fine. I am a happy customer. Ryan and the crew were all very courteous and professional. I would hghly recommend them!
I called Ryan for the first time. I needed 100 hour service on my 2017 Yamaha, F90. He explained what the service entailed and the extra things he would take a look at. He said he would even teach me how to properly take the prop on and off to check for fishing line. Once the service was complete (earlier than promised and under budget), he went over everything with me. He tested everything on the motor with me standing there, watching him. He went through all the gears, etc. to show me that everything worked properly. The service was impeccable, very professional and friendly. I will not take my boat anywhere else for service or repairs ever again. Ryan treated me like I was his most loyal customer, and this was my first time going there. Thank you, Ryan and team! I ran the boat the following Saturday and it ran better than it has ever run!
Amazing customer service, will update after service has been completed
Thanks Ryan, for excellent customer service when I came by during my planned fishing excursion, with a hydraulic trim issue on my motor. I was frustrated, having little time for boat outings, and multiple issues with the boat motor over the past year. I really appreciate your willingness to get me on the water, fixing the trim problem, and even checking that my motor was running fine for the trip! Just shook my hand, and asked me to catch a fish (I caught the dinks and line busters, but my wife actually caught the keepers!). Anyway, the boat ran great, and I appreciate your willingness to help, which is what I like the most about your business (quick and great quality service is right up there as well)!
We almost had a deal on a great boat for me. Was a used hydrasports 21' with twin Evinrude 175's dang got this close. They are great guys. The shop area was super clean and busy. The sales area had very nice electronics in stock, as well as most everything you fishing boat or yacht could need. Here she is the one that got away, at least I have a pic, no fish tales here.
I took my boat in for some repairs and they did an excellent job. I trust them
Very friendly they sure did have what I was looking for Thanks for great customer service
Great Service.
Great service very professional and very helpful and friendly I recommend to all my friends and family who have boats
Great guys to see if you need that last minute part for your DIY outboard overhaul. I learned a lot by chatting with Ryan and his dad while we looked up parts, they even brought out the service manual to show me the correct settings for my carburetors. I'll be back for sure.
Took a 2008 28’ mako cabin cruiser in after a long stint in storage, dealt directly with Ryan the owner and his father at the shop. Ryan walked us through every step of the service, told us what was needed, what it would cost and how long it would take. Ryan has great communication with us, and let us know where the boat was in it’s progress every step of the way! He even took it out with us to make sure everything was up to snuff when it was ready to go! Ryan and his team are top notch, and I’ll never take a boat to another repair facility in the corpus area! Thanks Ryan and thanks Thurman’s marine for all of your hard work and great customer service!!
I tried Thurman's tired of being off the water for 3-4 weeks every time I take my boat in. Thurman's earned my business with quick turnaround for troubleshooting and repairing my engine without the backlog others have. If you are looking to get back on the water quickly and for high quality service, this is the best place I've found. This company doesn't take shortcuts with repairs.
Thurman's Marine is literally the best place in town and it's not even close. He has always been fair, went above and beyond to help me out when I'm in a tight spot. His prices are most assuredly fair, as I've been to several spots in Port A, Corpus and San Antonio over the years. I will take my boat from Canyon Lake to Corpus just to have him service it because I've never had such friendly, timely, honest, cost effective work done on my boat.
HUGE MISTAKE! We took our small boat w/a 2006 motor for an estimate on a fuel line repair and it sat there over 3 weeks this summer before someone looked at it. The repair man finally called while we were on vacations and when we tried to follow up, we were informed that the owner, Ryan, had gone fishing (on a regular business day) and that we had to wait for him to get back to us. When Ryan finally called, he said it was going cost close to $2,000 to replace the fuel line plus extra work it needed. I called and asked if he could put off doing the full annual service and he said he couldn't cut corners. There is a difference b/w cutting corners and sticking it to the customer. We DID NOT proceed w/the repairs and were charged $250. for the estimate after it sat there for over a month. He informed me that he has a chartering business as well. I guess that explains why they take so long to give you an estimate. Can't imagine how much longer the repairs would have taken had we chosen to proceed. Ryan was also condescending when my husband picked up the boat and asked him to give me his fishing guide business card, since I had told him how much I love fishing and had not been able to go all summer. He told him he was hurt b/c I had pointed out that he had been fishing and if I wanted to go fishing, then his wife could charter his boat, as if. My husband told him he doesn't play childish games and did not take his card. What an unprofessional businessman that gets his ego hurt and rip off this business is. Looks like he caters to people who own expensive yachts or boats. BEWARE small boat owners who love to fish for recreation.
Nobody else in town could help me find a steering cable for my boat. Not only did they help they had it in stock! Great service and friendly folks!
After over a year of different mechanics guessing at problems on my Larson 274, I finally was told about Thurman's Marine. I had paid tens of thousands of dollars for other shops to wrongly guess at what my problem was. Ryan Thurman logically diagnosed my problem and fixed it. I found out the hard (and expensive) way that you get what you pay for. You can go to cheap shop time and time again and get crappy work done at cheap prices, or you can go to a quality shop that doesn’t cut corners and gets the work done right, and pay for said quality. Especially with boats the old saying is true, “you get what you pay for.” Ryan and his guys are responsive, professional, reliable and knowledgeable.I won’t take my boat(s) anywhere else, or oftentimes, have them come to the boat.
A few weeks ago, I took my boat to Thurman's for annual service. I'm not much of a mechanic, so Ryan and his team took the time to bring me back into their shop to teach/show me everything they planned on doing. They discovered issue with my motor during the service, and once again took the time to invite me back into the shop to show/teach me about the issue. They kept me updated throughout the whole project, and got it done in a timely manner. Overall, very knowledgable and honest group, and would not hesitate to bring boat back to them for any work needed.
Honest, prompt and high quality service. I could tell they take pride in what they do.
Absolutely love this shop great people
Thurman's Marine is a family business that really takes care of people. Their Customer Service is incredible, when you're dealing with them on anything, they really care about what they're doing and the service they're providing. They go the extra mile on everything. Highly recommended.
This is the second time I took my boat to Thurmans for repairs. The first time they fixed my Johnson 150 the next day. The second time I took my boat in the beginning of January. They stated all the electronics on the engine needed to be replaced, it sat for about two months, waiting for the shipment of parts. Replaced the parts and the next day I took it to the bay. I watched 6 other boats launch, mine would not start. A couple weeks later, they called and said the boat was ready. Before I would take it, I wanted them to start the motor, it would not start. After awhile they got it started, then I towed the boat to the bay so the shop could test it. It failed. Back at the shop the mechanic tested the motor and the stated he wanted to put the in the water, I towed it again, it failed again. All parts were removed and sent back to CDI for testing, I waited about 3 weeks. Thurmans stated they could not contact CDI for a status. I made two calls and found out when the parts were shipped and the tracking number. The parts were installed and tested, I received a call that my boat was ready. It failed again. They wanted me to return the boat to the shop, after talking to other shops I stated I would not take my boat back. Thruman’s offered different options of compensation, I stated I would pay for the parts and they could compensate me for the labor hours. I received an text From Thurmans stating a check is in the mail. Failed again.
So a couple years ago I purchased a boat and Thurmans marine did a complete work over on my boat, they were very thorough and did an excellent job, I spent over $11,000. Ryan even came out with us and road around with us to make sure all was good. On one of our trips to the coast I experienced some trouble, Ryan took our call on the weekend and got us squared away, I had not noticed that the safety switch had come off….I was new to boating at the time…..fast forward to today, we used the boat on the fourth and ran great, but for some reason today it would not turn over or lift the engine, I called the shop and Mr Thurman suggested I call Ryan, so I did, Ryan immediately New what I should look for, I had a blown fuse!!!! I was happy a couple years ago, and today I’m even happier, Thurmans marine goes above and beyond to help you as much as they can! They are honest and very knowledgeable. I can’t say enough good things! Ryan thank you so much!
I am from out of town, and was here in Corpus Christi for a Sailing event. Naturally as soon as we put up our boat in the water we found that it was dead on arrival. What happens when you're from out of town and your back is against the wall and you absolutely positively need it now? Normally I can tell you The chances are it's going to cost you an arm and a leg and your firstborn at least. I called Thurman marine. They knew we were in a pickle and agreed to take us right away and take a look at the boat. In the end it was a simple problem and I needed new batteries which they've replaced right away and get me back on the road within a half an hour. They could've really taken advantage of my desk but it's relation but they did not. What a pleasant pleasant surprise. I found the shop to be very unusual. It was immaculate! The shop was clean everywhere, they were busy but they were clean. Great work Simon thank you very much.
Great service . Fast , friendly land the place for all your marine needs . Should you ever require a top notch warranty service or a a major repair to your engine or your boat this is the facility that can put you back on top of the waves. The fellers at Thurman's Marine can even put you right where they're biting if you charter your next deep sea adventure on the Miss Celina , with their Master Captain Ryan Thurman. They can put you where the fish are , or right inside the beauty of the Gulf of Mexico on a scuba diving adventure that you will remember for a lifetime.
Great company, took my boat here and unlike every other boat shops in corpus this place fixed it and did it in no time at all. They also showed me other problems that I wasn't even aware of. I will definitely keep using them for all repairs that are needed in the future. Very friendly staff and they did a good job, so now I can get back on the water. Ps-They also emailed me a receipt so now I have my repairs on record so I don't have to try to keep up with a piece of paper. Thank you so much, I appreciate it!!!
Worst marine shop I've ever worked with. Came in for upholstery work and a service on the lower unit. I know alot of people in the boating community and I'll never recommend you. When I dropped it off I was told I'd have a quote for the cover upholstry by the end of the week. A week and a half later and many rain storms, still didn't hear a word. After bugging the guy for the past few days he still has yet to get a quote. Because he doesnt make appointments I have to leave my boat there in an uncovered lot exposed to the elements (my cover had damage to which he was to repair immediately) I have garages at home that I could of parked it in instead of chancing damaging my vessel. They haven't even got to my boat in terms of doing anything so I've chosen to pick it up, not once did he try to do right by me as the customer. As any boat owner knows shops are not responsible for the damage incurred at their facility so instead of chancing further damage to my boat I'll be taking it to a shop who conducts themselves more professionally and can meet my customer service expectations. At a premium price oforboat maintenance I expect excellent customer service. Leave it to a corpus shop to be stereotypical in their work ethic and professionalism. The bare minimum you could of done was ensure the upholstery for the cover was being fixed or replaced especially after the heavy amounts of rain we have had while it has been in your possession. UPDATE TO RESPONSE: You told me you would have a quote on the upholstered covering a week and a half ago, you never called me back once for that quote instead you let torrential rain go through it. I'm NOT asking you to speed up the work on the engine but when you tell me I'll have a quote on a certain day and you've made 0 effort to do so, how can I have any confidence in the actual mechanical work you do? This has nothing to do with the wait on my engine work and all with the fact that you've let it sit out uncovered after telling me youd get it covered. You are not taking proper care of my boat how can I ensure you will do the same with the engine? This has nothing to do with covid-19 dont fool yourself. Excuses are like armpits and we all have them. Furthermore when you told me it was your mistake for not giving directive to your upholstery guy to complete the work immediately, you admitted to your own short comings for not taking care of me or my boat and offered 0 resolution or apology. You told me how nice and clean my interior upholstery was, well I'm sure you know quite well it doesnt get that way by sitting out in the elements. The companies I work with beg to have clients like me and you lost the opportunity at a customer for life. I'll be dropping it off to my team of mechanics in san antonio, I recently transferred here, and I've already learned the typical corpus behavior. Thought I would support local, big mistake. Thanks for ruining that coincidence.
Parts - Ray , was Awesome to work with. We needed a hard to get part and he searched for it and found it in Dallas. He was friendly and patient and very helpful. We received the part and Ray called to confirm we received it. Great Customer Service. Thank You
Disappointing
After being without our boat for 5 months with a terrible mechanic, we took it to Thuman's Marine for our Honda motor. After it (the motor) was pronounced dead, they were able to revive it and it did not take long. Thanks Ryan and staff for getting it up and running!!!
We came down to Corpus to fish Baffin the day after Christmas. Motor wouldn’t crank and Thurman’s was the only place that answered our call. They rebuilt our starter and has us back on the water within hours. Nice and professional
They did a great job installing a gps/transducer on my boat and taking care of an annual inspection for me.
Great staff great company
HUGEMISTAKE!!! Thurman's Marine tore my engine apart to tell me the same thing I told him was wrong and charged me $550.00 to do it. Repair cost was going to be over $3800.00. I put it back together for $800.00 in parts and 8Hrs of labor not knowing what I was doing. I feel a rough estimate could of been made without tearing my motor apart without my permission to tell me what I already knew. I don't mind paying for good services but price gouging is unacceptable! PS my motor is running fantastic.
I have a 17’ boat with a 40hp Yamaha motor that I use in the Intercoastal and the Corpus Christi Bay area. I had Thurman’s Marine Shop overhaul the carburetors on the boat. The boat runs great now. Ryan asked to demo the boat in the bay, so that I was satisfied with the work. He also asked to bring our fishing poles. He took us to one of his favorite fishing holes, and we caught bunches of fish. Thank you, Ryan.
Very nice people and pretty boats
Very good service and decent food
The young lady answering the phone was very professorial. The owner Mr. Thurman was very helpful and took the time to explain everything and a swerve ques.
Ryan's shop has performed the annual maintenance on the Cummins engines on my 41 foot sports fishing boat for two years. This year's maintenance was much more involved with a disassembly and acid wash of the entire cooling system. They did a fantastic job and had me fully functional in time for the Deep Sea Roundup despite the supply chain issues that make it very difficult to find parts. Ryan's team always shows up when they say they will and leaves my engine room cleaner than they found it. Multiple times I've found their knowledge valuable to me in solving issues on the boat unrelated to what I hired them for. Anything marine related, I would recommend Ryan.
They did an outstanding job on my boat. I felt the prices were very reasonable. I'm taking my boat back when it's maintenance time
No game's . Just facts. Pleasnt staff.
They are fast, fair and professional! I have used ronnies, chris's, and other independent mechanics over the past 10 years and 4 boats and Thurmans service, speed and professionalism is unparalleled to all the others in my experience! I recommend them highly to new and seasoned boat owners!
Fantastic facility. Friendly and professional staff, knowledgeable and experienced technicians. The reel deal!
On several occasions I have taken my boat to Thurman Marine and have always received fair, honest and professional treatment. When routine annual maintenance was necessary Ryan and Jose at Thurman’s Marine were always thorough and attempted to identify any issues that I may have in the future or ones I could currently address myself.Recently I had a problem with my oil pump and after completing diagnostics to ensure it was not a computer chip or other problem they made the replacement in a timely manner. In addition, Jose and Ryan performed other checks on the boat to ensure all was in order. While completing the job they also thoroughly cleaned all of the areas which had become oily and filthy. I highly recommend Ryan, Jose and Thurman Marine for honest and professional work.
